Hijau's Program

EARLY AGE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Understanding and positive response towards environment should be implanted in the early age of our children, the future generation that later will be responsible to the environment they are going to live in. School as educational institution takes a vital role as an agent in child development, and here is environmental education to take place. Forum of Teachers with Environmental Concern and exciting ways of teaching encourage children to grab initial understanding of environmental issues that in hope will be deeply rooted in their minds up to their mature age.

DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION WITH ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES
One of the causes of environmental degradation is the lack of relevant information. Information is disseminated continually in informative ways. Environmental issues necessarily should be taken into surface through campaigns, discussions, bulletins, newsletters and the likes. as a matter of fact, environmental issues are closely related to culture. bearing in mind that Jogjakarta is known as city of culture, discourses on environment have much things to do with culture and should be viewed culturally.

DISCOURSE ON ANIMALS AND THEIR HABITATS
Animal as one of God's creatures is of the essence in ecosystem. in the natural habitats, various animals play important roles to maintain nature in its balance. the inclination of today is that they are hunted, traded and that most of them have already vanished or have been vanishing. their natural habitats are destroyed and replaced them with human settlement. discourses on animal habitats are widely open as one step to embark efforts in conserving habitats. this integral program is taken as the guideline for Hijau to run its activities.

SAMAS CONSERVATION PROGRAM"S
Jogjakarta as a cultural city and attract many tourists may start thinking about anvironmental tourism. The slopes of Merapi is one. With forest and clear streams, also wild animals, it is an ideal educational, recreational site. Samas beach is just as beautiful, with fishery life, turtle conservation and migrant birds coming every year.
